Furman Ballew

LANDRUM, Feb. 9 -- Furman Ballew, 84, well known resident of Highlands Township, Greenville County, died at the home of his daughter, Mrs. Troy [Toy] Farmer, about 5 am Friday after a two week illness.

He was the son of the late Matthew and Charlotte Reid Ballew, and was a member of Ebenezer - Welcome Baptist Church.

Surviving are five daughters, Mrs. D. B. Farnsworth and Mrs. H.F. Dill of Greenville, Mrs. Troy [Toy] Farmer and Mrs. Ernest Goode of Landrum, and Mrs. H.Y. Plemmons of Piedmont; one son, E.C. Ballew of Gastonia, NC, and 18 grandchildren and 23 great-grandchildren.

Funeral services will be Sunday at 3 pm at the Ebenezer Welcome Baptist Church conducted by the Rev. Wilson W. Payne, Dr. J. Dean Crain, the Rev. E.B. Crain and the Rev. Broadus Belue. Burial will be in the church cemetery.

Pallbearers will be grandsons, James, Carl. Charles and Dickie Ballew, Jack and Joe Farnsworth and Frankie Goode.

Masonic Lodge 251 will be the honorary escort and have charge of the graveside service.
