Born June 20, 1919 to George Russ and Lovenia Zundel Peck.
He married his sweetheart, Norma Evans on November 6, 1940; their marriage was later solemnized in the Salt Lake Temple.
As best friends, they spent 65 wonderful years together. Russell was a dedicated worker for 27 years as a gifted mechanic at Garrett Freightline and was a member of the machinist union.
He loved spending his free time taking photos, creating family films, hunting, fishing at Moon Lake, and most of all spending time with family and friends. Using his trademark smile, he loved being a storyteller and playing practical jokes on others; with his witty sense of humor, there was never a dual moment.
Survived by his wife, "Norm"; children, Danelle Plotnick, David (Darlene), Dixie (Marty) Shaffer, Lorna (Mickey) Thompson, Skip (Sharon) Woolston, Curtis (Violeta), Stephanie (Andre) Lanier and Kellie Herbst; 38 grandchildren; 67 great-grandchild-ren; one great great-granddaughter; and many other family members who love and adore him. Russell and Norma also generously opened their home to many foster children over the years. Russell anxiously awaited his reunion with those who preceded him in death, especially his son, Joe.
Funeral Services will be held on Wednesday, February 8, 2006 at 11:00 a.m. at the Cannon Stake Center, 934 West Fremont Avenue (1125 South). Family and friends may visit on Tuesday evening from 6-8 p.m. at Redwood Memorial Estates Mortuary, 6500 South Redwood Road (1700 West), and also an hour prior to the services at the Church.
Interment will follow immediately at the Redwood Memorial Estates Cemetery.
