"Deaths Robert K. B. Saxon Robert K. B. Saxon, 91, 935 Grand Ave., died early Wednesday morning, Jan. 13, 1993, in St. Vincent Hospital where he was admitted Tuesday afternoon after becoming ill at his home. He was born July 3, 1901, in Fairview Township, the eldest of seven children of Arthur Gillespie and Margaret R. Walsh Saxon. The Saxon family arrived in John Conner's Trading Post in 1811, and spent their first winter in the post's block house with the soldiers. When the land sale opened in 1812, they purchased farm land east of Williams Creek in Fayette County. He graduated from Fairview High School in 1919, and had taken electrical courses in Chicago at Cook Institute. He operated the family farm in Fairview Township until retiring and moving to Connersville in 1969. In addition to farming, he had been employed as a Western Union telegraph operator; a station agent by the Pennsylvania Railroad, and by the Falmouth Mutual Telephone Company. He had been a ham radio operator since 1929 and a member of the American Radio Relay League. He was a member of St. Gabriel Church, Council 861 Knights of Columbus, Train Collectors Association, American Association of Retired Persons, Whitewater Valley Railroad Association and for the past 12 years had been a volunteer worker. He was a member of the Third Order of St. Francis and the morning daily Mass group. He was a former member of the Fayette County Historical Society. Survivors include two sisters and one brother: Miss Mary Helen Saxon, with whom he made his home, Mrs. Francis (Clementina) Osinski of Montrose, Mich., and Arthur Saxon of Louisville, Ky., and a number of nieces, nephews and cousins. He was preceded in death by a sister, Margaret Billingsley, and two brother, Alfred M. and Herbert L. Saxon. Friends may call at Miller Funeral Home from 5 until 7:30 p.m. Friday, where the rosary will be recited at 7 p.m. The Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11 a.m. Saturday at St. Gabriel Church with burial being in Fairview Cemetery."
