Cora was the wife of Lane Wesley Medford.

CANTON ? Cora Maggie Wilson Medford, 85, of Dutch Cove died Tuesday, May 9, 2006, at Haywood Regional Medical Center.

She was a native of Piedmont, S.C. and the daughter of the late Lennie and Lula Nicholson Wilson. She was preceded in death by her husband, Lane Wesley Medford, who died in 2004, and numerous brothers and sisters. Cora was a wonderful cook and won a blue ribbon for her delicious rolls at the N.C. State Fair. In addition to being Communion Steward, she was very involved with her church, Morning Star United Methodist Church. She loved her family and will be greatly missed.

She is survived by a daughter, Susan Medford Sorrells and her husband, Jim, of Canton; a son, Jim Medford and his wife, Marty, of Houston, Texas; a sister, Helen Smathers of Canton; a brother, Dick Wilson of Asheville; three grandchildren, Suzann Medford Adams and husband, Al, of Simpsonville, S.C., Anna Medford Giles and husband, Greg, of Houston, Texas, and Matthew Sorrells and wife, Cristie, of Canton; and five great-grandchildren, Connor Wise, Jamie Adams, Max Adams, Austin Cope, and Jonathan Sorrells.

Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday, May 13, 2006, at the Morning Star United Methodist Church with the Rev. Doug Love officiating. Burial will follow at Morning Star Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 6 until 8 p.m. Friday at Wells Funeral Home of Canton.
