Janet Irene Diehl Patience, 89, of 1221 Rosser Ave., Waynesboro, died Wednesday, Aug. 23, 2006, at Avante Nursing Home in Waynesboro.

Mrs. Patience was born July 23, 1917, in Fairfield, and was a daughter of the late Charles and Lillie Roadcap Diehl.

She was educated in Augusta County schools and Trinity Lutheran Church in Crimora. She was employed by the Social Security Administration in Washington, D.C. for a number of years.

Her husband, Frank W. Patience, preceded her in death.

Survivors include a son, Frank W. Patience Jr. of Lemoore, Calf.; two sisters, Wanda D. Lester of Waynesboro, and Lillian D. Farrar of Richmond; two grandchildren and a number of nieces and nephews.

The Rev. Larry Nolff will conduct a graveside service 1 p.m. Friday at Oak Lawn Cemetery in Bridgewater. The family will receive friends following the service at the cemetery.

Memorial contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society, 1920-H Medical Ave., Harrisonburg, VA 22801, or to a charity of choice.
