Mr. Diehl was born Feb. 22, 1887 in Rockingham County and was a son of the late Elijah F. and Elizabeth Petry Diehl. He was a retired farmer and carpenter and a member of Second Presbyterian Church of Waynesboro.
His first wife, Lillie Virginia Roadcap Diehl, died Aug. 27, 1950.
Surviving are his wife, Beatrice Dressler Diehl; seven daughters, Nellie Carroll of Staunton, Edith Hutchens of Fishersville, Janet Patients of Newton, N.J., Ina McCormack of Manassas, Lillian Odell of Richmond, and Wanda Lester and Ruth E. Diehl, both of Waynesboro; a son, Warren O. Diehl of Rockville, Md.; a brother, Clark M. Diehl of Penn Laird; a sister, Hattie D. Morris of Bridgewater; a stepdaughter, Charlotte Cordier of Piano, Texas; 14 grandchildren; 25 greatgrandchildren, and four great-greatgrandchildren.
The funeral will be conducted 11 a.m. Wednesday at the Etter Funeral Home in Waynesboro by Dr. Ralph M. Piland.
Burial will be in Oak Lawn Cemetery at Bridgewater.
The family will receive friends at the funeral home 7-8 p.m. today.
The family suggests that memorial contributions can be made to the Waynesboro First Aid Crew.
