Henry H. Schroeder was twenty-six and Catherine Emma Schmidt was twenty-three when they married on October 25, 1908 in Barton County, Kansas.

The 1910 census of April 21, revealed Henry was a farmer on his own account. He rented their farm in Pawnee Rock, Barton County, Kansas. Henry and his parents were born in Russia. Katie was born in Kansas and her parents were born in Russia. Henry emigrated in 1899. They had been married four years, had two children and two were still living. Household members: Henery Schroder (27), Katie (25), Edna (1) and infant (3/12).

WWI Draft card of September 12, 1918 revealed Henry H. Schroeder (36) was born on July 3, 1882 and was a citizen of Russia. He was medium height, medium build and had brown eyes and brown hair. Henry was a farmer, resided at 1 Great Bend, Barton County, Kansas and his nearest relative was Katie Schroeder of same residence.

The 1920 census of January 9, revealed Henry were living in Liberty, Barton County, Kansas. Henry immigrated in 1884 and had submitted papers for naturalization. Household members: Henry H. Schroder (36), Katie (34), Edna (10), Harvey (9), John (7), Helen (6), Esther (4), Dorris (2) and Opal (1).

The 1925 Kansas State census revealed Henry was born in Poland immigrated in 1885 and was naturalized in 1915. Household members: Henry H. Schroeder (42), Katie (39), Edna (16), Harvey (15), John (12), Helen (11), Esther (9), Doris (7), Opal (6), Marion (5), Edmond (3) and Etla (2).

The 1930 census of April 16, revealed they owned their farm and their real estate value was $1000. Henry was twenty-three and Katie was nineteen when they married. Household members: Henry H. Shroder (47), Kate (44), Harvey (20), John (17), Helen (16), Esther (14), Doris (12), Opal (11), Myron (9), Edmund (8), Etta (7), Howard (4), Alice (3) and Willard (1).

The 1940 census of April 18, revealed Henry and Katie had an eight grade education. Household members: Henery H. Schroeder (57), Katie (45), Harvey W. (30), John F. (27), Myron H. (20), Edmond Lee (18), Howard G. (14), Alice G. (12), Willard W. (10) and Bethel L. (9).

The 1952 Great Bend Kansas City Directory revealed Henry Schroeder and wife, Katie rented their home at 2535 7th Street.

{{ Mrs Henry Schroeder - Mrs. Katie Schroeder, 82, died Thursday morning in the Lyons Hospital. She had been a lifelong resident of this area, making her home with her daughter, Mrs. Fred Olds of Lyons, for the past three years. born April 28, 1886 in Barton County she married Henry Schroeder Oct. 25, 1908 in Dundee. He died in Nov. 23, 1954.

She was a member of the Bergthal Mennonite Church, north of Pawnee Rock.

She is survived by sons, Harvey and Willard, both of Wichita; Myron, Turlock, Calif., Bethel, Santa Clara, Calif., Lee and Howard, both of Great Bend, daughters, Mrs. Edna Saylor and Mrs. James (Opal) Queen, both of Great Bend, Mrs. Fred (Helen) Olds, Lyons, Mrs. Russell (Alice) Spaniol, Calif., Mrs. Ben (Ester) Thrasher, Hutchinson, Mrs. J.D. (Doris) Pipkin, Odessa, Tex. and Mrs. Garland (Ethel) Dills, Orlando, Fla.; one brother, Frank Schmidt, Livingston, California, one sister, Mrs. Susie Unruh, Larned; 37 grandchildren and 39 great-grandchildren.

One son, John, preceeded her in death in 1963.

Funeral services will be at 2p.m. Monday at the church with the Rev. Gary Stenson officiating. Burial will be in the church Cemetery. Friends may call at the Cook and Weaver Funeral Home until 1 p.m. Monday.}}
