He was the son of the late Lewis H. and Margaret (Kuhn) Breighner.
Lewis retired from Hoffein Brothers after 20 dedicated years as a carpenter. Prior to his employment with Hoffein Brothers, he had worked as a carpenter with several contractors in the Hanover and surrounding areas.
He was a United States Army veteran of World War II and a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church and the Holy Name Society.
Lewis enjoyed working in the yard, playing cards, hunting, and wood crafting.
Lewis was the loving husband of Shirley E. (Shildt) Breighner, whom he married June 18, 1949, and survivors include four daughters, Janice Klunk of Thomasville, Joan Wildasin and husband, Timothy of New Oxford, and Bonita Barnhart and husband, Randy, and Julie Fuhrman and husband, Jeffery, all of Hanover; son-in-law Richard McNulty of Hanover; seven grandchildren, Chris Lang and husband, Michael of Sarver, Lisa Fogle and husband, Chad of Manchester, Troy Klunk and wife, Mary of Casa Granda, AZ, Jen Wright and husband, Allen of Hanover, Jason Lau and fiancee, Erica of McSherrystown, Adrian Barnhart and wife, Jen of Spring Grove, and Jeremy Fuhrman and fiancee, Jen of Hanover; nine great-grandchildren; one brother, Bernard Breighner of Littlestown; and two sisters, Marian Paszek of Maryland and Mary Debilus of Georgia.
He was also preceded in death by his oldest daughter, Deb McNulty, who departed this life September 21, 2000, and
three sisters, Loretta McMaster, Anna Kopp, and Marie Dresher; and four brothers, Raymond Chronister, James Breighner, Joseph Breighner, and Patrick Breighner.
