Herbert Clarence Baker, born in Roosevelt, OK, February 12, 1918, passed away February 23, 2009, at the age of 91. He served in WWII in the Army and Air Corps in the Phillippines and New Guinea. He retired from Tinker Air Force Base as an airplane mechanic. Herbert loved to tell war stories and talk about what his grandkids said and did. He was known to his family for his patience. It is a tribute to him that he lived with our mother/grandmother, Flossie, for over 50 years. To get a break, he enjoyed traveling on TDY Tinker trips to Spain, Thailand, & Japan. Herbert was preceded in death by his wife, Flossie, of 56 years his parents, Grover and Alma Baker sisters, Daisy Wood, Ruby Jones and brother, Grover Baker, Jr. Herbert is survived by his stepdaughter, Pat Payne of Oklahoma City, OK stepson, Percy Sturm and his wife Rosa of Meeker, OK sisters, Beulah Wilshire of Moore, OK, Bess Potter of Wichita, KS, Barbara Hilliard of Lawton, OK several grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews. The family would like to thank Forest Glade Retirement Center, Valir Hospice & Grace Living Center for their loving care. Funeral services will be 2:00 p.m., Thursday, February 26, 2009, at Bill Eisenhour Southeast Chapel with interment at Sunny Lane Cemetery, Del City, OK.
