DIED - SCHMITT - At her home on South street, Thursday, February 16, 1911, Mrs. Mary Schmitt, aged 68 years and 7 days.
Mary Tavis, who has been in poor health for the past twelve years, was born in Oggenheim, Province of Hessia, Germany, February 9, 1843. In 1854 she came to the United States with her parents. In 1860 she was united in marriage to Christian Schmitt, and in 1888, they moved to Dodge County, and purchased a farm in the town of Beaver Dam, where they lived until 1898, when they came to this city to reside. Mr. Schmitt died two years [ago].
Deceased was the mother of thirteen children - nine of whom survive to mourn the loss of a kind and loving mother. They are: Mrs. Catherine Blankel, of the town of Lowell, Jacob and John Schmitt of the town of Beaver Dam; sister Digna of Green Bay, and sister Ercola, of St. Louis, Mo., both sisters of the order of the sisters of Notre Dame, Mrs. Joseph Fischer, Mrs. L. H. Gocker and Miss Margaret Schmitt of this city and Miss Anna Schmitt of Ripon.
The funeral was held Monday afternoon from St. Peter's church. Burial in St. Peter's cemetery, Rev. Geo. J. Muenzer officiating.
