Charles Ward Johnson, 83, of Lucasville, died Fri. Jun 27, 2003 at SOMC. He was born Dec. 3, 1919 in Oldtown, Ky., a son of the late John and Mary Hilton Johnson.
He also was preceded in death by five brothers, Nathan, Riley, Leonard, Johnny, and Richard; and four sisters, Martha Adkins, Violet Campbell, Mary Belle Johnson, and Virginia Smith.
Ward was a foreman for the Scioto Co. Engineer, a WWII US Army veteran, and a 1938 Valley High School graduate.
He is survived by his wife, Phyllis Johnson, whom he married Mar. 2, 1964 at Sandy Hook, Ky., five daughters, Joyce Engle of Dayton, Nancy (Richard) Yadon of Ft. Myers, Fla., Barbara (Edward) Okun of Ft. Lauderdale, Fla., Melodie (Tom) Osborne of Lucasville, and Sara (Hugh) McPhail of Cincinnati; four sons, Phillip Johnson of Lucasville, Henry (Diana) Johnson of Minford, Charles Ward II of Orlando, Fla., and Joseph (Marci) Johnson of Ft. Bragg, NC; two step sons, Michael (Sharon) Johnson of Hendersonville, NC, and Robert (Monica) McManus of Cleveland, Oh; 20 grandchildren; six great grandchildren and one brother, Jim Johnson of Lucasville.
The family will receive friends 5 to 8 pm Mon. at McKinley Funeral Home in Lucasville. Services will be held at the convenience of the family.
