Born March 31, 1925, in Venus, Pa., she was the daughter of Lawrence and Pearl (Confer) Goodman and has been a resident of this area since 1953.
Mrs. Swiger was a 32 year employee of the Reliance Electric Corp., retiring in 1987. While at Reliance, she served on the Sports Committee.
She enjoyed golf, bowling, and various crafts and ceramics. She was a member of the Geneva First United Methodist Church and the VFW Auxiliary Post 943. Mrs. Swiger was responsible for initiating toll free telephone service between Geneva, Ashtabula, and Jefferson.
Survivors include two children, Teri E. Wilson of Valdosta, Ga. and Lanny D. (Bobbie) Swiger of Ashtabula; five grandchildren, Scott Wilson, Jeff Merritt, Tom Merritt, Shannon Cerney and Jeremy Swiger; nine great-grandchildren, Veronica, Thomas, Kelly, Jeffrey, Justin, Jenna, Jaret, Audrianna and Shawn; sister, Ruby Salada of Custer City, Pa.; and brother, Larry Goodman of Lecanto, Fla.
She was preceded in death by her parents; a daughter, Sharon Rae Merritt in 1993; her former husband, Don E. Swiger; five sisters, Geraldine "Gerry" Holden, Betty Finnerty, Lois Skinner, Evelyn Ross and Marion Flanders; and a brother, Burdell Goodman.
Memorial Services will be 11 a.m., Wednesday, Nov. 26th, at the Geneva Home of the FLEMING & BILLMAN FUNERAL DIRECTORS, 323 S. Broadway, Geneva, with the Rev. David Hill of the Geneva First United Methodist Church officiating. Burial will be in Evergreen Cemetery.
No calling hours will be observed.
