Claude Clifford McCleerey was born July 22, 1892, at Mapleton, the son of John and Anna McCleerey and passed away September 18, 1962, at the age of 70 years, 1 month and 27 days.

He had been in ill health for some time. He was married to Dorothy Wright on January 9, 1918. To this union five children were born: one son, Wilbur of Paullina, four daughters, Mrs. Wilma Bowers of Wisconsin Rapids, Wisconsin, Mrs. Frances Green of Aurora, Illinois, Mrs. Betty Bottjen and Mrs. Claudia Schulke, both of Correctionville.

After living in the Anthon and Moville communities, they moved to the Correctionville community in 1932, continuing to farm until his death. Mr. McCleerey was a member of the Modern Woodmen of America Lodge.

He was preceded in death by his parents, and one sister, Bessie Herbold.

Survivors include his wife, five children, two sisters, Mrs. Chloe Chase of Cherokee and Mrs. Louise Fisher of Houston, Texas; two half-brothers, Clarence of Aurelia and Ulmer of Brush, Colorado; three half-sisters, Mrs. Alma Ritz of Washta, Mrs. Zetta Roll of Galesburg, Illinois, and Mrs. Zelma Edwards of Correctionville, fourteen grandchildren and two great grandchildren.

Funeral services were held Friday, September 21, 1962, at 2 p.m. in the Church of Christ with Pastor Louis D. Ferguson officiating. Pallbearers were L.C. Jorgensen, Ferrell Burnham, Basil Jones, Harry Heritage, Sam Olson and Lester Schulke. Burial was in the Correctionville Cemetery under direction of Wilson-Hull Funeral Home.
