The Correctionville News, 27 April 1972, page 1: Wilma Maurine Bowers, eldest daughter of Claude C. and Dorothy Wright McCleerey, was born at Correctionville, Iowa, January 31, 1921, and passed away April 16, 1972, at her residence in Center Point, Iowa, after a short illness. She graduated from Correctionville High School in 1938 and taught school in Woodbury County and was employed by Northwestern Bell Telephone Co. prior to her marriage. On April 7, 1941, she was married to Wayne Bowers in Fort Dodge, Iowa, and to this union two sons and one daughter were born. They lived in the Rock Branch community until 1957 when they moved to Wisconsin Rapids, Wisconsin. The past year they lived at Center Point. Mrs. Bowers was a member of the First Methodist Church in Wisconsin Rapids. Funeral services were held at 2 p.m. Wednesday, April 19, at the Church of Christ in Correctionville with Allen Burnham, minister, officiating. Burial was in Memorial Park Cemetery in Sioux City under direction of Barker Funeral Home. Survivors include the widower, two sons, Richard C. of Hoffman Estate, Illinois, and Michael W. of Madison, Wisconsin, one daughter, Mrs. Ronald (Judy) Schaller of Pekin, Illinois, her mother, Mrs. Dorothy McCleerey of Correctionville, three sisters, Mrs. Wendell (Frances) Green of Aurora, Illinois, Mrs. Edward (Betty) Bottjen and Mrs. Eugene (Claudia) Schulke both of Correctionville and three grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her father and a brother, Wilbur.
