Lavica McKern Akes was born December 26, 1877 and departed from this life
March 22, 1953 at the Decatur County hospital. She was born and reared near
Leon. In the year of 1896 she was united in marriage to Oscar Rex. To this
union nine children were born. Her husband and three children preceded her in
death. Price, Nelson, and Lavica. In 1945 she was married to Orne McHarness.
She leaves to mourn her departure her loving husband, six children: Mrs. Sadie
Scott of Mt Ayr, Iowa: Mrs. Borie Daniels, of Leon: Mrs. Lucinda Williams of
Grand River, Iowa; Henry Rex of Leon, Iowa; Floyd Rex of Spokane, Washington;
one step son, Clarence McHarness of North Platte Nebraska; twenty-seven
grand-children, 17 great grandchildren, one brother, Don Akes of Leon, two
sisters: Mrs. Mattie Rex of Decatur, Iowa; Mrs. Lizzie Sloan of Wagner Montana
and many nephews and Neices. She united with the Baptist church when a young
girl and lived a Christian life through the years. In later years she changed
her membership to the Pentecostal Faith and loved her Lord until the end.
