obituary in the Leon Journal Reporter Dec. 21, 1972 p2. In part
it says Mattie May Rex, daughter of William and Lavicy Ann Akes, died Dec. 15,
1972 at the Decatur Co. Hospital, age 87 years, 10 months and 13 days. She was
born in Decatur Co. Feb. 3, 1885 and united in marriage to Oliver Sherman Rex
Dec. 21, 1900. To this union were born five children, two of which preceded
her in death; Wilson, 1929, and Robert 1970; also three grandchildren. She was
converted in the Assembly of God Church at Garden Grove in 1923. She was a
member of the Leon Assembly of God Church. Surviving are her remaining
children, one son, Alvin, Lamoni; and two daughters, Mary Shaw, Leon, and Laura
Derry, St. Joseph, Mo.; 10 grandchildren; 34 great grandchildren; five
great-great grandchildren; other relatives and friends.
