Short obituary from the "Anthony Republican" :
"At the advanced age of eighty years, Mrs. Josephine Glessner died at her home, 224 South Chatauqua, Wichita, Sunday evening of this week and her remains were brought here Tuesday for a funeral service and burial. For a number of years, Mrs. Glessner had been making her home with a sister, Miss Carrie Downing, and many readers will remember that those ladies resided in Anthony on North Jennings avenue for seven or more years and moved from here to Wichita about eleven years ago. The deceased lady is a sister of Winfield S. Downing and an aunt of Mrs. Melvin S. Hoopes, both of this city. A funeral service was held at the Methodist church at one o'clock Tuesday, conducted by Rev. G. L. Coppedge, and she now rests beside the remains of her husband in Forest Park Cemetery."

Letters written by Josephine to her cousin, Ellie Webb, in 1876 have recently surfaced and provide insight that Josephine was well educated and worked as a teacher. Her cursive writing is a delight to see.
