Harry A Smith, 78, of 306 West Maple St., Palmyra, died Sunday, April 18, 1993, at home. He was the husband of Ruth Stehman Smith, with whom he would have observed their 50th anniversary on May 12.

Born in Port Republic, Va., he was the son of the late Noah and Laura Rodeffer Smith, he served as an Army medic in the Pacific during World War II and had been a business teacher for 35 years in Palmyra High School and an auditor for Valley Trust Bank in Palmyra for 10 years. He was a member of Palmyra Church of the Brethren, where he was a former and member of the Fellowship Sunday school Class: a former director of the Automobile Association of America: and secretary of the board of the Lebanon Brethren Home for 16 years. He was a 1931 graduate of Elizabethtown High School and 1935 graduate of Elizabethtown College.

Surviving in addition to his wife are daughters Eileen, wife of Mark Smith, Palmyra; Patricia, wife of Randall Igou, Palmyra; Nancy, wife of Jeffrey Cherniss, Seatle, Wash., Carolyn Smith, Johnstown, and Cathryn, wile of Randy Ditzler, Lebanon: and eight grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by brothers Isaac, Jacob Joseph Smith and sisters Anna Brandt and Mary Smith.
