Joseph C. Smith, 66 312 W. Maple St., Palmyra, died unexpectedly Tues while attending the Palmyra Senior Citizens meeting in the First Evangelical Congregational Church, Palmyra.

A native of Rockingham Co., Va., he was a son of the late Noah and Laura Rodeffer Smith.

He was a retired employee of the Hershey Foods Corp., and was a member of the Palmyra First Evangelical Congregational Church, the Palmyra Senior Citizens Group, the Motive Men's Bible Class, and the Palmyra Citizens Fire Co.

Surviving are his wife, Carrie Rhoad Smith; a son Donald C., at home; a daughter, Dorothy, wife of H. Marlin Heisey, and a sister, Anna, wife of Ira Brandt, both of Palmyra.

Also surviving are three brothers, Jacob N., Palmyra RD 1, and Isaac R. and Harry A., both of Palmyra and two grandchildren
