GROTE – On August 2, 1974, at 7:15 a.m., at the home of his son-in-law and daughter, Mr. and Mrs. William Bortner, Codorus, Pa., George R. Grote, husband of Sarah Werner Grote, aged 86 years, 7 months, 10 days.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend the funeral services on Monday at 2 p.m. from the Geiple Funeral Home, Glen Rock. Interment in St. Jacob's (Stone) Church Cemetery.
Relatives and friends are invited to call at the funeral home Sunday evening from 7 to 9.

George R. Grote
JEFFERSON – George R. Grote, 86, husband of Sarah Werner Grote, formerly of Glenville, died at 7:15 a.m. Friday at the home of a son-in-law and daughter, Mr. and Mrs. William Bortner, Jefferson.
He was born in Glenville, son of the late Charles A. and Saranda Sterner Grote, and resided at Jefferson the past 13 years.
Prior to his retirement in 1954, he served 42 years as a clerk and later general manager of Codorus and Manheim Farmers Association. He was a member of the Lutheran congregation of St. Jacob's (Stone) Church, and Jefferson Fire Co.
Also surviving are: Three other children, Hannah M. Grote, Glenville; Mrs. Cora L. Wagner, Glen Rock RD 1, and George A. Grote, Glenville; 13 grandchildren; 32 great-grandchildren; six great-great-grandchildren; two brothers, Harvey C. Grote, Hanover RD 2, and Albert Grote, Jefferson, and two sisters, Mrs. Lizzie Miller, Jefferson, and Mrs. Florence Kaltreider, Brodbeck RD 1.
Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Monday at the Geiple Funeral Home, Glen Rock. The Rev. Richard C. Weaver, his pastor, and the Rev. Dr. Kenneth S. Ehrhart, retired pastor, will officiate. Burial will be in St. Jacob's (Stone) Church Cemetery.
