Mrs. Lizzie A. Miller
JEFFERSON – Mrs. Lizzie A. Grote Miller, 85, a former resident of Jefferson, widow of Paul L. Miller, died Monday at 2:30 a.m. at the home of her son-in-law and daughter, Mr. and Mrs. John S. Greenplate, 121 Pine Springs Blvd., York, with whom she lived.
Mrs. Miller had been employed at one time as a seamstress at various sewing plants in the Jefferson area. She was a member of the Lutheran Congregation of St. Jacob's (Stone) Union Church and Sunday School, the Missionary Society of the Church and the Stone Church Community Club.
She also belonged to the auxiliaries of Jefferson and Nashville Fire Companies and York County Firemen's Associations. Mrs. Miller also was a member of the Thomasville Senior Center. She was born in Manheim Township, daughter of the late Charles A. and Saranda Sterner Grote.
Surviving are three daughters and two sons, Mrs. John S. Greenplate, with whom she lived; Mrs. Curtis D. Jones, 901 Baltimore St., Hanover; Mrs. Alverta Bortner, 25 N. Alwine Road, York; Paul J. Miller, Lehigh Acres, Fla., and Stewart L. Miller, East Berlin RD 2; 15 grandchildren, 17 great-grandchildren, a great-great-grandchild, and two brothers, Albert Grote, Jefferson, and Harvey Grote, Hanover.
The Rev. Richard C. Weaver, her pastor, will officiate at funeral services Wednesday at 2 p.m. at the Geiple Funeral Home, Glen Rock. Burial will be in Jefferson Cemetery.
