WASHINGTON TERRACE - Lavon Page Palmer, 77, passed away Friday, September 20, 2002 at Ogden Regional Medical Center. He was born September 10, 1925 to William and Phyllis Page Palmer in Hollbrook, Idaho.

Lavon was reared and educated in Preston, Idaho, graduating from Preston High School. He joined the Navy in 1943. He was a veteran of World War II, serving as a hospital corpsman.

After serving his country, Lavon met and married the love of his life, Mary Benton on September 12, 1953. They had 49 wonderful years together, rearing six children.

Lavon worked as an aircraft inspector at Hill Air Force Base, retiring after 38 years.He was a member of the Washington Terrace 6th Ward.He loved to work out in his yard and always had beautiful flower gardens. He also enjoyed going for a walk.

Lavon will always be loved, remembered and deeply missed by all who knew him. He was a gentle man with a ready smile and a kind word for everyone.

He is survived by his wife and six children; David (Debora) Palmer, Syracuse; James Palmer, Ogden; Richard (Patricia) Palmer, Roy; Joy (Delbert) Morris, Eden; Michelle (Mark) Hirschi, Washington Terrace; Carol (Richard) Tonks, North Ogden; as well as 24 grandchildren and ten great-grandchildren with whom Lavon loved spending time.

He is also survived by three brothers and two sisters; Ruth Berg, Firth, ID; Delamar (Opal) Palmer, Kaysville, UT; Darrell (Elanore) Palmer, Fortuna, CA; Doug (Joyce) Palmer, South Ogden, UT; Gae (Suel) Murdock, Preston, ID.

Lavon was preceded in death by his parents, five brothers, one sister and a son, William Jay Thorstead.

Funeral services will be held Tuesday, September 24th at 11 a.m. at Lindquist"s Ogden Mortuary, 3408 Washington Blvd., with Bishop Keith DeGroot officiating.

Friends may call at the mortuary Monday evening from 6 to 8 p.m. and Tuesday from 10:00 to 10:45 a.m.

Interment, Lindquist"s Washington Heights Memorial Park, 4500 Washington Blvd., where Military Honors will be accorded.
