He was born in Preston, Idaho on July 21, 1927 to William Palmer and Phyllis Page.
Douglas attended Preston High School before marrying the love of his life, Joyce Larsen on May 3, 1945, in Preston, Idaho.
They were sealed in the Manti Temple on July 29, 1955, along with their children. They felt it was a ceremony that should never be forgotten.
They moved to Ogden, Utah where Joyce and Doug along with their children started Palmer Wholesale Décor, a business that was open for over 50 years. Douglas served in the Navy during WWII.
Douglas always felt his children, Wayne, Karl, Roger and Laura, were his greatest gifts. He cherished the time they spent together boating, golfing, sightseeing and camping. He always loved anytime he could spend with his family throughout his life.
He is survived by his children, Karl (Judy), Roger (Jan), Laura (Adrian); sister, Gay Murdock; seven grandchildren; 16 great-grandchildren, and two great-great-grandchildren.
