Leroy Hawk, Former Niantic Resident, Dies

Leroy C. Hawk, 65, formerly of Niantic, died at 3:30 p.m. Sunday in the Wabash hospital, Peru, Ind. He was a machine operator for the Chicago & Alton Railroad Co. He moved to Peru from Niantic 26 years ago (1923).

He was born July 16, 1884, in Niantic, a son of Aden and Amy B. Hawk, and was a member of Peru Christian church, Moose lodge, Modern Woodsman and Masonic orders.

Mr. Hawk was married to Eunice Garrett in Illiopolis. She survives him. He also leaves a sister, Mrs. Aliff Carr of Kewanna, Ind.

Services will be today in Peru and at 1:30 p.m. Wednesday in the Dawson & Wikoff funeral home, here, where friends may call after 6.p.m. today. Burial will be in
Kellar cemetery, Lovington.

Leroy was called "Roy" by his parents and lived in Indiana for much of his adult life. His wife, Eunice, was from Lovington and also had relatives in Hammond,Illinois.

Niantic, Ill. Oct 24 - Roy Hawk and Miss Eunice Garrett were married Wednesday, oct. 23, at high noon, the Rev. Brady officiating, at the home of the bride. A fine wedding dinner was served. The couple will live on Mr. Hawk's farm, five miles southeast of Niantic.
