Otis Irvin Lane, 79, of 225 South Main Street, Rittman, Ohio, died Tuesday, July 27, 1971, in Wayne County Hospital of Wooster, Ohio. He had been a patient of the hospital for the past year.
He was born on December 26, 1891, in Three Springs, a son of Scott and Mary (Ranck) Lane. He was married to Mona Roher, who preceded him in death in 1959.
Nine children survive Mr. Lane: They are Scott Lane, Marshallville, OH; Charles Lane, Creston, OH; Mrs. Thelma Hawkins, Wadsworth, OH; Mrs. Lillian Perry, Rittman, OH; Mrs. Donna Shope, Three Springs, PA; Mrs. Mariam Grissinger, Virginia Beach, VA; Mrs. Joanne Whitsel, Fayetteville. PA; Mrs. Carolyn Legg, Willard, OH, and Mrs. Gloria Jean Whitsel, Portsmouth, RI. There are 24 grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren.
The following brothers and sisters also survive: Clinton Lane, Cedar Rapids, IA; Jay Lane, Huntingdon, PA; and Mrs. Nevada Beckwith, Pasadena, CA.
The deceased worked as a coal miner during his life.
Funeral services will be held Friday, July 30, at 2 p.m. in the Ott Funeral Home, Orbisonia. The Rev. Tobias Henry of Huntingdon will officiate. Interment will take place in the Old School Baptist Cemetery in Springfield Twp, Three Springs. Friends may call on Thursday evening from 6 to 9 p.m. and on Friday until the hour of services.
