Dave Low was born in Panola County, the son of Jonathan and Demarius Jones Low. As a young man he moved to Sharkey County, Mississippi where he became a planter, eventually buying the Vickland and Mont Helena plantations at Nitta Yuma and Rolling Fork. He married Sarah Shelton Ruffin of Covington, Tennessee in 1910. His wife preceded him in death in July, 1929. He died three months after having a truck/car collision near Cary, Mississippi. His six children were left orphans and were then brought to Sardis to be reared in the home of his sister, Mrs. Mattie Low Kibler.
