Lawrence A "L.A." Barnett was the eighth child of twelve born to Charles John Barnett and Martha Ann "Mattie" Holcombe. He married Hattie Elva Smith in 1905. They had six children. Lawrence died in 1918 when his youngest child was only one year old. Records appear under two different spellings of his first name: Laurence and Lawrence. His WWI Registration Card and his Texas Death Records both spell his first name as "Lawrence."
