Stroke Fatal to Ervin Swartz, 81.
Ervin L. Swartz, 81, of 520 West Cherry St., died at 1:05 P.M. Wednesday at the Wells County Hospital. Death, attributed to a stroke, followed an illness of eight days.
Born Jan. 10, 1880, in Wells County, he was the son of William Henry and Jemima Swartz. His marriage to Bessie May Lash, who died in 1945, took place in 1904 in Bluffton.
Mr. Swartz was a member of the Church of Christ and the Moose Lodge. A lifelong resident of Wells County, he was retired.
Surviving are eight sons; Darrell, Lee, and Donald, all of Monroe, Mich., Eugene (Tootie) of Dayton, OH., Franklin of Anderson, Virgil of Poneto, Ervin, Jr. and Robert L. both of Bluffton; and a daughter, Mrs. Charles (Martha Marie) Iser of Markle.
Also surviving are two brothers, George and Dennis, both of Fort Wayne; 19 grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.
Services will be conducted at 2:30 p.m. Friday at the McBride Funeral home, Rev. James M. Grange officiating.
Burial will be in the Fairview Cemetery.
*****On the 1900 census, it was stated that he was born in Ohio and on his WWI draft card, he stated his birthyear as 1881. I'm leaving that data as is since there is nothing to resolve this conflict available.
