Virgil Swartz, 76, of Bluffton died Friday morning.

He was a custodian for 15 years for the Bluffton-Harrison School District and 11 years for Norwest Bank. He was a member of American Legion Post 111 and served in the Army during World War II.

Born Sept. 15, 1920, in Wells County, he was the son of Ervin and Bessie M. Lash Swartz, Sr. His marriage on Mar. 21, 1948, in Bluffton, was to Phyllis Moser, who survives.

Additional survivors include a son, Don Swartz of Keyston; two daughters, Mrs. Gary (Becky) Yahnke and Mrs. Don (Linda) Reeb, both of Fort Wayne, two brothers; Irvin Swartz of Bluffton, Don Swartz of Monroe, Mich., a sister, Mrs. Charles (Marie) Iser of Markle; and eight grandchildren.

Services will be at 10:30 a.m. Monday at Goodwin Memorial Chapel with Rev. Robert Cahoon officiating. Burial will be at Six Mile Cemetery.

Calling at the funeral home will be from 6 to 8 p.m. Saturday and from 1 to 8 p.m. Sunday.
