RAVEN, Va. - Mrs. Linda Ruth 'Sally' Brown Gibson, 56, of Raven, went to be with the Lord Sunday, May 8, 2005 at a Richlands, Va. hospital. She was a member of the Ivy Springs Baptist Church.

Born June 25, 1948, she was the daughter of the late Felix Jerome and Maggie Sparks Whited.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her first husband, James W. Brown; infant son, James David Brown and son, Johnny Brown; infant grandson, James Allen Staten; sisters, Polly Whited, Sara Gratin and Lucy Boyd; brothers, Berkley, Leo, Andy, Glen, Charles and Tommy Whited.

Survivors are her husband, Craig Alan Gibson; daughters, Susan Mullins and husband Johnny of College Estates, Claudette Miller and husband Eddie of Raven, Wendy Staten and husband Rodney of Horton Ridge, Va., Gail Tatum and husband Jerry of Paintlick; son, Mike Brown of Raven; 10 grandchildren, two great-grandchildren; sisters, Billie Wilson and husband Jack and Doris McGhee, both of Raven, and Joyce 'Bo' Compton of Jewell Ridge, Va.; brothers, Walter Whited and wife Beulah of Ridge Way, Felix Jerome Whited Jr. and wife Dorothy of Doran, Va., Willard Whited and wife Ruby and Roger Whited and wife Nina, both of Raven, Darrell Whited of Tazewell, Va. and Junior Boyd of Swords Creek, Va.; and a host of friends and family also survive.

Funeral services will be conducted at 2 p.m. Wednesday, May 11, 2005 at Singleton Funeral Service Chapel in Cedar Bluff, Va. with Pastor Phillip Cook, Bruce Mitchell and Mike Roberts officiating. She will be laid to rest in the Richardson Cemetery at Horton Ridge. Pallbearers will be Timothy Lane Gibson, Douglas Newberry, Tony McGhee, Mike Brown, Johnny Mullins, Rodney Staten and Eddie Miller. Honorary pallbearers will be Ronald Wilson, Willie Wilson, James H. McVey, M.D. and Billy Joe Compton.
