Mr. Felix Jerome Whited, Jr., age 79, of Doran, VA went home to be with the Lord on Thursday May 5, 2010 in a Winston-Salem, NC. Hospital. Born on April 13, 1931 he was the son of the late Felix Jerome Whited, Sr. & Elizabeth Hess Whited. In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by a granddaughter Christy Lee Byrd; son in law Edward Dewayne Byrd; Sisters Lucy Boyd, Polly Whited, Sara Gratin, Sally Gibson and Doris McGhee; Brothers Berkley, Glen, Charles, Andy, Leo, Tommy and Walter Whited.


Mr. Whited was a retired coal miner and a U.S. Army Korean Veteran. He was a member of the Casey-Short V.F.W. Post 9640.


He is survived by his loving wife of 52 Years Dorothy Richardson Whited;

Three daughters Debbie Harris & husband Cheyenne of Belfast, VA; Cathy Cordle & husband Randall of Raven, VA and Becky Byrd of Raven, VA;

Three grandchildren Timothy Boyd & girl friend Lora Newberry; Jason Byrd & Adam Cordle;

Two sisters Joyce Compton of Jewell Ridge, VA and Billie Jean Wilson & husband Jack of Raven, VA;

Four brothers Willard Whited & wife Ruby of Raven, VA; Roger Whited & wife Nina of Raven, VA; Junior Boyd & wife Judy of Swords Creek, VA and Albert Whited of Tazewell, VA. Several Nieces & Nephews also survive.


Funeral services will be conducted at 2:00 P.M. Monday May 10, 2010 at the Singleton Funeral Service Chapel in Cedar Bluff, VA with Rev. Steve Perkins, Rev. Ancil Childress & Rev. Dwight Miller officiating. Burial will follow in the Greenhills Memory Gardens Cemetery at Claypool Hill, VA. Pallbearers will be Cheyenne Harris, Randall Cordle, Timothy Boyd, Jason Byrd, Adam Cordle, Dennis Smith, Carl White & Darrell Cordill. Casey-Short V.F.W. Post 9640 will conduct Military Graveside Rites.
