15 May 1956: Harry H. Whitman, 79, 1518 Washington Street, well known as "Skinny" Whitman in semi-pro league baseball ranks before World War I, died at 6:05 o'clock on Sunday evening at his residence. He had been ill for several months and was a retired roller of wrought iron. His parents were the late Harry H. and Sarah (Landis) Whitman. He is survived by his wife, Annie (Stoudt) Whitman; children Harry E.; Florence, wife of Harry Behney; Helen, wife of Orth Potteiger; Mary, wife of Theodore Shirey; Martha, wife of George Hetrick; Wilson R.; Gladys, wife of Paul Lynch and Myrl, wife of Lester Strickler; 22 grandchildren; 29 great grandchildren and a brother, Frank Whitman, all of Lebanon.
