10 April 1968: Harry E. Whitman, 69, 1512 Washington St., died this morning at the Good Samaritan Hospital. Born in Lebanon, he was a retired employee of the Lebanon Steel Foundry. At one time he was employed by the former Lebanon Wrought Iron Company. He held membership in the Neversink Fire Company and the Retired Employees Club. He was a former baseball player for the Pleasant Hill ball club. In addition to his widow, Gertrude Heinbach Whitman, he is survived by ten children: Evelyn, wife of Edward Fields; Harry P., Donald L., Eugene V., June, wife of Harry Trievel; Herbert T., Mrs. Elaine Resanovich, Larry E., Gertrude, wife of Ronald Firestone, all of Lebanon; and Lillian, wife of Howard Lyndacker, Beaver Falls, N.Y. Also six sisters, Mrs. Florence Lyndacker, Beaver Falls, N.Y.; Mrs. Helen Potteiger, Mrs. Martha Hetrick, Mrs. Gladys Lynch, Mrs. Myrle Arnokovich, Mrs. Mary Shirey, all of Lebanon; a brother, Wilson, of Lebanon; 3 grandchildren, four great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.
