HEBRON -- Emory Birky, 83, a Hebron resident 37 years, died Wednesday in Porter Memorial Hospital, Valparaiso.
Born June 10, 1901 in Beemer, Neb., he was a retired farmer and a former Kouts resident.
On Oct. 22, 1931 in Kouts, he married Elsie Gingerich, who survives.
Also surviving are a daughter, Shirley Wenger of Valparaiso; five sons, Eugene of Hebron, Merritt of Maryland and Tom, Melvin and Curtis of Colorado; 17 grandchildren and three great-grandchildren; two sisters, Emma Good and Mary Good of Kouts; and three brothers, Jonas and Emanuel of Kouts and Jake of Valparaiso.
Services 11 a.m. Saturday at Hopewell Mennonite Church, Kouts; the Rev. John Murray officiating; burial in Hopewell Mennonite Cemetery, Kouts; visitation 3 to 5 and 7 to 9 p.m. Friday at Kosanke Funeral Home, Kouts.
