SWEETWATER RITES FOR LEWIS SMITH

Sweetwater - A ruling in the death of Lewis Horace [Forest] Smith, 60, will not be made for two weeks, due to tests being made in Austin.

Smith, a Sweetwater resident, collapsed in a San Angelo tavern Wednesday and was dead on arrival at Shannon Memorial Hospital. A bottle of carbolic acid, one-third empty, was found in his pocket. Justice of the Peace J. B. Holberg is conducting the inquest.

Funeral was to be held at 2:30 p.m. Friday at the West Side Baptist Church here, with the Rev. Carl Smith, pastor, officiating. Burial in Palava Cemetery will be directed by Cate-Spencer Funeral Home.

Surviving are his mother, Mrs. Addie Smith of Sweetwater; five brothers, L. D., Cleave, and L. E. of Sweetwater, J. D. of Carlton and Floyd of Abilene; five sisters, Mrs. J. B. Bonner of Fisher County, Mrs. M. L. Durham of Brownfield, Mrs. Jack Marchbank of Cross Plains, Mrs. Clarence Thompson of Midland and Miss Rita Smith of Fort Worth.
