Loyd E. Smith, 73, of Abilene, died Sunday in a local hospital.
Services will be at 2 p.m. today at Elliott-Hamil Funeral Home Chapel of Memories, 542 Hickory, with Don Woods officiating. Burial will be in Sweetwater Cemetery.
Mr. Smith was born, grew up and attended school in Palava. He was a heavy equipment operator for the City of Abilene for 20 years. He was a Baptist. He married Ina Butler in 1942 in Sweetwater.
Survivors include his wife, of Abilene; two sons, Dwayne Smith of Spring and Wendell Smith of Montgomery, Ala.; four sisters, Ruby Bonner and Reata Smith, both of Fort Worth, Erma Durham of Brownfield and Ila B. Kennedy of Hastings, Neb.; two brothers, Cleave Smith and L. D. Smith, both of Sweetwater; and five grandchildren.
