Paul Cubey Barlowe (aka Barlow) was the son of Julius Posatale Barlowe (aka Barlow) and Temperance “Tempie” Cordelia McClurd. He was born June 16, 1903 in Watauga County, NC.
Paul was physically and mentally handicapped and he was well cared for, at home, by his loving family. His parents, Julius and Tempie, were his caregivers until their deaths and after both of them died his nephew, Grady Barlow and Grady’s wife, Vallie, assumed the role of caregivers for Paul and took good care of him until Paul’s death on February 26, 1960. Grady was the son of Paul’s deceased brother, Charlie, and after Charlie died in 1917, Grady, age almost 2, went to live with his paternal grandparents, Julius and Tempie.

Paul C. Barlow, 56, of Banner Elk RFD 1, died Friday (February 26, 1960) night at 10:45 p.m. in his home.
He was the son of the late Julius & Tempie McClurd Barlow and was born in Watauga County.
Services will be held at 2 p.m. Sunday (February 28, 1960) in Watauga Baptist Church.
The Rev. Calvin Hilton and the Rev. Will Cook will officiate. Burial will be in Jestes Cemetery.
Surviving are three brothers, Oren and V.R. of Marion and Stanley Barlow of Johnson City, Tenn.; a sister, Mrs. Parker Franklin (Maudie) of Nebo.
