He was the son of the late Samuel S. and Elsie E. (Spidle) Bankert.
As a young man, Charles worked for the former Warner Products in Lineboro, Md. He previously worked for many years at the former Glen Traditional Furniture Factory, Glen Rock.
Charles loved hunting and fixing things, especially lawn mowers. He was proud of his farm roots, enjoyed butchering, and always looked forward to spending the holidays with his family. He liked reading the paper, doing word search puzzles, and lately, enjoyed watching soap operas.
Charles is survived by two brothers, George Bankert of York, and Dale Bankert and wife, Mable of New Freedom; three sisters, Goldie Renoll of Seven Valleys, Anna Mae Bankert of Glen Rock, and Barbara Almony and her husband, Horace of Glen Rock and many nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by two sisters, Mary and Florence Ehrhart.
Interment was in St. Paul's Dubs Union Cemetery, Hanover.
