Edris Ruth (Anderson) Batzka, age 68, of Morgan Township, formerly of LaPorte and a one year resident of Germany while her husband served with the U.S. Army, passed away Sunday, September 4, 2005 at Porter Hospital of natural causes.
She was born July 23, 1937 in Morgan Township, the daughter of Richard and Dorothy Anderson. She graduated from Morgan Township High School in 1955 where she had been active in cheerleading and 4-H Club. Edris attended Hanover College, was a member of Salem United Church of Christ in Wanatah and its Fellowship Class, was formerly a member of Happy Circle Home extension Club and enjoyed music and farming.
In August of 1957, she married Kenneth Batzka who survives along with their three children: Andrew Batzka of Morgan Township, Brian Batzka of Willowbrook, IL, and Caroline Batzka of Morgan Township; her mother Dorothy Anderson of Valparaiso and two sisters; Alma Lou (Henry) Looft of Valparaiso and Laura Lea Anderson of Valparaiso.
Edris was preceded in death by her father; three sisters; Geraldine, Phyllis and Diane and one brother, Rick.
A funeral service will be held Wednesday, September 7, 2005 at 11:00 AM at the Salem Church with Rev. Craig Forwalter officiating. Burial at Salem Cemetery. Visitation will be Wednesday from 9:00 to 11 AM DIRECTLY at Salem Church. Memorials may be made to the church.
