Mel Zetter was born Feb. 27, 1925 in Sheyenne, N.D. He was next to the youngest of eleven children of Swedish Immigrant parents Helga & Andrew Zetter. He grew-up on his parents' dry-farm. He moved to Portland, Oregon in 1941 and began serving in the U.S. Navy during World War II. After receiving a medical discharge he worked as a salesman for Maddox Moving & Storage in Portland, Oregon. He married Melissa Maddox in 1944. He retired in 1980. Mel passed away at his home located near Portland Golf Club from heart disease on April 27, 2001. Mel was a regular volunteer at the Apostolic Faith Church in Portland along with his wife. Survivors include his wife - Melissa Maddox-Zetter; daughters - Pamela Zetter-Haney, Rosanna Zetter-Ferguson & Jennifer Zetter-Buss; son - Markus Zetter: sisters - Rose Vivian Zetter-Sorensen & Elsie Zetter-Dennis; six grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren. Mel loved to re-visit the Sheyenne, North Dakota area and also southeast Oregon around the small community of Fields, Oregon during summer driving adventures. Mel loved his family and friends and they all loved him and his great wit.
