Dies in Hospital.
William Anderson (sic) Bankson, 74 years old, 124 North Pearl avenue, former chief deputy oil inspector for the state of Missouri, died at 10:45 o'clock last night (23 July) in St. John's hospital, following an illness of three months.
Born March 21, 1878, at Webb City, Mr. Bankson had resided in this district all his life. For many years he was engaged in the mining and drilling business. He served as chief deputy oil inspector for eight years, retiring in 1941.
Mr. Bankson was a member of St. Peter's Catholic church, the elk's lodge and the Ancient Order of United Workers of Kansas.
Surviving are the widow, Mrs. Grace B. Bankson of the home; two brothers, Tone Bankson and James Bankson, both of Galena, Kan., and a sister, Mrs. Della Bynam, also of Galena.
Funeral arrangements will be announced by the Steve Parker mortuary.

Bankson Funeral
Funeral services for William A. (Andy) Bankson, 74 years old, who died Wednesday night in St. John's hospital, will be conducted at 9 o'clock Saturday morning at St. Peter's Catholic church. The Rev. Father Arthur M. Tighe will officiate.
Burial will be in Mount Hope cemetery, with members of the Elks lodge conducting graveside rites. Member’s of the lodge will serve as honorary pallbearers.
The body will be taken this afternoon to the family residence, 124 North Pearl avenue, where rosary will be recited at 7:30 o’clock tonight. The body will remain at the home until time for the services. The Steve Parker mortuary is in charge.

Requiem high mass for William A. (Andy) Bankson, 76 (sic) [74] years old, who died Wednesday night in St. John's hospital, will be read at 9 o'clock this morning at St. Peter's Catholic church. The Rev. Father Arthur M. Tighe will officiate.
Burial will be in Mount Hope cemetery, with members of the Elks lodge conducting graveside rites. Member’s of the lodge will serve as honorary pallbearers. Active pallbearers will be Homer Miller, Paul VanPool, Roy Coyne. Robert Seiler, Ray Cochran and Dick Miller.
The body taken yesterday to the family residence, 124 North Pearl avenue, where rosary was recited last night. The body will remain at the home until time for the services. The Steve Parker mortuary is in charge.

Son of Nelson H. Bankson & Mary A. (Ivey) Bankson.
William was a Retired Oil Inspector for the State of Missouri. He lived at 124 N. Pearl St. in Joplin. He died at St. John's Hospital after a 3 day stay at 10:20 p.m. from Cerebral Hemorrhage due to Cardiovascular-Renal Disease due to Uremia. He had had Heart Problems since 1939.
He married (1)Fannie Harrison, January 3, 1902, in Galena, Cherokee County, Kansas and (2)Grace B. Pevey.
His first wife Fannie and their son William N. Bankson are both buried in Galena City cemetery, Galena, Cherokee County, Kansas.
