James A. "Al" Phillips Jr., 78, of Independence, Mo., passed away May 26, 2007. Services 11 a.m. Friday, June 1, at the Mt. Washington Forever Mausoleum Chapel, Independence, (816) 252-4141, where a "Celebration of Life" in honor of Al will be one hour prior. Burial following at Mt. Washington Forever Cemetery.

James A. (Al) Phillips Jr. 78 of Independence, Mo. went to be with the Lord on May 26, 2007 as he was surrounded by his family. Funeral services will be 11:00 am Friday, June 1, 2007 at Mt. Washington Forever Mausoleum Chapel, Independence. Burial to follow in Mt. Washington Forever Cemetery. A ( Celebration of Life) in honor of Al will be 10:00 to 11:00 am prior to the service at the Mausoleum.

Al was born October 22, 1928 in Kansas City, Missouri to James (Jimmy) and Pauline (Aston) Phillips. He was a self employed Carpenter and Master Craftsman. He enjoyed taking what others would consider junk and turn it into a useable, priceless treasure. He was a man after Gods own heart and loved to deer hunt, share the Bible and sing with his family and friends.

He is preceded into heaven by his Parents, Sister; Alice (Sis) Brecht. 2 Brothers; Don and Bob Phillips and Grandson; Jared Carson.

He is survived by his wife of 37 years, Betty of the home. Daughters; Connie Dukes, Karen Scheer, Pam Hessenflow, Bobbie Myers and Renee Nicola. Sons; Michael Vogan, James A. Phillips III, Terry Lewis and Jacob Beyerink. 18 Grandchildren and 12 Great-grandchildren.
