Miss Sarah J. Lovell was born June 1, 1845, near Dixon, Scott Co., Iowa, the daughter of William Lovell & Sarah Jane Grace, and departed this life at her home in Lake City, Iowa, on December 24, 1918, at the age of 73 years, 5 months and 23 days. She married William Trucks of Ohio on February 7, 1868, who preceded her on March 15, 1912. To this union were born eight children, seven daughters and one son, all of whom are living and were present at the funeral. They are Miss Lottie Waters of Rensville, Minnesota; Mrs. May Ritter of Lohrville; Mrs. Belle Seay, Mrs. Ida Ritter, Mrs. Carrie Wurn, Miss Ella Trucks, Miss Lissa Trucks, and W.L. Trucks, all of Lake City; also one step-son, George Trucks of Colorado Springs, Colorado. Besides the children she leaves to mourn her loss 21 grandchildren, 3 great grandchildren, two sisters, Mrs. G.H. White of Marion, Iowa, Mrs. A.E. Bolon of Fort Dodge, Iowa; three brothers, William Lovell of McCabe, Colorado, John Lovell of LeMars, Iowa, and D.J. of Coon Rapids, Iowa. She was a faithful member of the Methodist Church since early girlhood. A short service was held at the home December 26, 1918, conducted by Rev. Wilson, pastor of the Methodist Church. Mrs. Trucks had been in poor health for seven years but her last illness was only a few days. She was taken ill on Thursday and passed peacefully away on Tuesday at 8:30. The remains were laid to rest beside her husband in the Lake Creek Cemetery.
