OBITUARY, Marion Pilot, 31 October 1895, page 8: Died, at the home of his daughter, Mrs. William Trucks, near Auburn, Sac Co., Iowa, Mr. William Lovell, on October 18, 1895, aged 87 years and 6 days. William Lovell, son of John and Elizabeth Lovell, was born in Warren Co., New Jersey, October 12, 1808. In 1838 he immigrated to Davenport where he worked at the carpenter trade. In 1842 he was married to Miss Sarah Grace and settled on a farm in Big Walnut Grove, Scott County. In 1877 he moved with his family to Carroll County and settled north of Coon Rapids. Mr. Lovell was converted in early life and in 1850 he united with the Methodist church in Dixon. He died as he had lived, trusting in the Lord. He was the father of eleven children, seven sons and four daughters, two sons of whom are deceased. Mr. Lovell has been very feeble for several years. One week before he died, he was taken ill; he was conscious and knew the end was near; he wished to die and be at rest. His remains were carried home on the 19th, and his funeral was held in church on the 20th, conducted by the pastor, Rev. Mr. Bock. The deceased was the father of Mrs. G.H. White of this city.

Married Sarah Jane Grace 9 January 1842 in Clinton Co., Iowa. They had 11 children: Nelson G. Lovell (1843-1915); Sarah Jane (Mrs. Wm.) Trucks (1845-1918); Mary Elizabeth (Mrs. John) Binford (1847-1911); John Grace Lovell (1848-1926); Reuben Lovell (1850-1864); Michael Wilkes Lovell (1852-1931); Lois J. (Mrs. Granville Henry) White (1854-1930); Joseph Henry Lovell (1855-1918); Eliza Ann (Mrs. A.E. "William") Bolon (1858-1934); Daniel Jackson Lovell (1859-1950); James Washington "Wash" Lovell (1866-1892)
