Clarence C. Welle, 77, of Paynesville, died Thursday, Jan. 29, 1998, at Assumption Home in Cold Spring.

Funeral services were held at 10:30 a.m. on Saturday, Jan. 31, 1998, at St. Louis Catholic Church in Paynesville. Fr. Richard Leisen officiated. Burial was in the St. Louis Parish Cemetery.

Clarence was born May 1, 1920, in Spring Hill, Minn., to Anton and Apollonia (Schoenberg) Welle. He married Josephine Hinnenkamp on Aug. 23, 1943, in St. Boniface Catholic Church, Melrose. They moved to Paynesville in 1947. He was a member of St. Louis Catholic Church and
Knights of Columbus #3820.

Clarence is survived by his wife, Josephine of Paynesville; children, Pat (Bill) Hamlet of Monticello, Jim (Mary) of Bloomington, and Dennis (Debbie) of Chaska; five grandchildren; four step-grandchildren; nine
great-grandchildren; brothers, Alvin H. Welle of Paynesville, Edwin Welle of Richmond, and Tony Welle of Spring Hill; and a sister, Loretta Rieland of Melrose.

Clarence was preceeded in death by his parents, Anton & Apollonia Welle, sisters - Lonie Kraemer, Merena Stroeing, Alma Jacobs & Della Loxtercamp; and brother Joseph G Welle.
