Alma Ann was born on December 13, 1921 in Spring Hill, Stearns County, Minnesota. She was the 8th of the 11 children born to Anton J Welle and Apollonia K (Schoenberg) Welle. She was raised on the Welle family farm 2 miles east of Spring Hill (Section 26 of Spring Hill Township). She attended School District #133, known as the Miller School because it was located on Joe Miller's land...the neighboring farm.

On May 27, 1941, when Alma Welle was 19 years old, she married Gustav Jacobs at St. Michael's Catholic Church in Spring Hill, MN. Gustav was the son of Michael & Theresia Jacobs and he grew up down the road (Section 25)

Alma and Gustav Jacobs lived in Melrose, MN and had one daughter, Doreen Jacobs, born April 20, 1942. Doreen Jacobs married Florian Klaphake May 28, 1966 in Melrose, MN - 25 years after her parents were wed. Florian and Doreen Klaphake have 3 children - Michael (1968), Karl (1969) and Mary (1973).

Gustav Jacobs died in Melrose on March 8, 1970. Alma Welle Jacobs died February 28, 1997 in Melrose, MN. After 27 years of being a widow, Alma was able to once again, be united with her husband.
