Samuel was the son of John A. Compton and Cora French. He married Clara Burton. Samuel retired from the C&O Railroad Company. In 1950, he was a railroad cook.

Married, on June 28, Mr. Samuel G. Compton of Hulette, to Miss Clara Burton of Adellne. The bride is the charming daughter of Mr. and Mrs. A.J. Burton, and the groom is the son of the well-known Squire Compton. The ceremony was performed by Rev. Casady of Blaine. They were accompanied by the bride's sister and brother, Miss Esther and Will and their friends Miss Elsie Vanberh of Zelda and Mr. Linzy Nunley of Hulette. The bride was handsomely dressed in a suit of white silk. The groom wore a suit of brown. Returning at the Squire's home at 6 p.m., an elegant supper was served. They will reside in Ashland as the groom has a position there.

Samuel George Compton, 73, of Louisa, Route 4, died Monday, August 27. He was a former postmaster. He is survived by his mother, Mrs. Cora French Compton; his widow, Clara Burton Compton; two sons, Shannon Compton, Louisa, and Sam Compton, Ashland, KY; four daughters, Mrs. Charles Clark of Louisa, Mrs. Oscar Judy, Huntington, WV, Mrs. Lawrence VanHorn, Catlettsburg, KY, and Miss Betty Compton of Ashland; five brothers, Tom Compton, Rush, KY, Blaine Compton, Columbus, OH, C.W. Compton, Paintsville, and Jay and D.C. Compton, Louisa; two sisters, Mrs. Leslie Layne and Miss Dixie Compton, Louisa. Funeral services were conducted at 2 p.m. Thursday, August 30 at Kilgore-Collier Funeral Home in Catlettsburg, KY.
