Dixie was the daughter of John A. Compton and Cora French.

"Miss Dixie Compton, 86, formerly of Grandview Manor, died Monday in Elmwood Village Convalescent Center following a long illness. Miss Compton was born Oct. 8, 1899, in Lawrence County, a daughter of the late John A. and Cora French Compton. She was a member of Greenhill Chapter Order of Eastern Star No. 567 and the Methodist church. Surviving are several nieces and nephews. The funeral will be conducted at 1 p.m. Wednesday at the Kilgore & Collier Funeral Home in Catlettsburg by the Rev. Frank Wallace. Burial will be in the Compton family cemetery on Blaine Creek."
