The son of George Frederick and Susan (Baird) Stainbrook. Married Isabelle Davison on 22 October 1856 at Dixon, Lee Co., Illinois. The Rev. Wilbert McKaig officiated.Isabelle was the daughter of William and Mary (Wallace) Davison.

Isaiah and Isabelle were parents of: GeorgeFrederick/11 September 1858, William Wallace/18 April 1860, Mary E. Stroudt/17 March 1867, Jane (Jennie) Phillips/6 February 1869.

Isaiah was quite young when he came to Lee County with his father, George Frederick Stainbrook. He worked by the month on a farm in Lee County until 1860. Went to Princeton, Bureau County and was employed on a farm there for two years. Returned to Lee County and invested his money on a quarter section of excellent farm land in Viola Township, where he resided for nearly thirty years.

Served in the Civil War as a member of the 153 Regiment of Illinois Volunteers -Company F. Enrolled on 18 February 1865 in Chicago. Was mustered in 27 February in Chicago. He was described as a farmer, 31 years old, born Crawford Co., Pennsylvania, 5'10", dark hair, grey eyes, dark complexion. Mustered out 21 September 1865.

Isaiah spent the better part of his life as a farmer and was a much respected citizen of Lee County.

He was sitting in a chair at home when he died suddenly. He was known to be afflicted with heart disease.
