Funeral services for Duane Amosson were held Friday afternoon, March 9 at the St. John's Lutheran Church in Norway Township. The Rev. Perry Sampson conducted the services and burial was in the Norway Township cemetery. Music was provided by Mr. and Mrs. Lawrence Espe, accompanied by Mrs. Grant Jergenson. Casket bearers were Ben Eye, Ed Campbell, Carroll Weigand, Frank Engstrom, Lynn Carlson and Helmer Maage.

Duane Marvin Amosson was one of the twin sons born to Amos and Julia Amosson May 9, 1921 in Boone Township, Wright County, Iowa. The family membership was in the Lutheran Church in Renwick and was later transferred to St. John's Lutheran in Norway Township. Duane was married March 1, 1941 to Miss Edith Johnson and after farming three years near Eagle Grove the young couple moved to the present farm home seven miles south of Kanawha. Death occurred Tuesday, March 6, at his home.

Besides his wife he is survived by four children, James, Bette, Tommy and Carol Sue. Other survivors
are six brothers: Sam, Goldfield; Glenn, Rockwell; Orville, Ottumwa; Harold, Eagle Grove; Eddie, Clarion; and Richard, Hardy. Also two sisters, Bertha, Mrs. Roy Hanson of Belmond; and Rozella, Mrs. Clifford Anderson, Colorado Springs, Colo. Preceding him in death were two infant daughters; his parents and twin brother Donald; and one sister, Mrs. Harlan Jotten.

Clarion Farmer Is Found Dead
Funeral services are being arranged at Kanawha for Duane Amosson, 40, farmer who lived 11 miles northwest of Clarion. He was found dead Tuesday morning in his barn. Dr. Robert McCool and Dr. Robert Eaton, county medical examiners were called and according to their report, Amosson apparently died of a self-inflicted shotgun wound. Amosson is survived by his wife and four children.
